What We Are Looking For:

STEER Partners is seeking a dynamic and strategic Principal to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an entrepreneurial consulting firm that partners with leading private equity firms and mid-market companies to deliver impactful insights across transaction support and growth strategy. As a Principal, you will play a critical client-facing role, directly contributing to the short, medium, and long-term revenue of the firm. This position will be responsible for developing new client initiatives by identifying, cultivating, and securing new relationships. This role involves a blend of project execution and leadership, creative problem-solving, proposal development, and stakeholder management.

As Principal, you will work across a wide variety of client engagements, gaining hands-on experience across multiple industries. Your contributions will have a direct impact and visibility with client leadership, offering meaningful opportunities to engage and influence decision-makers. You will also have the opportunity to shape firm-wide initiatives and help steer the direction of our growth. This role is a path to being a partner / shareholder in the firm.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have 5-8 years of experience in blue-chip strategy consulting, a minimum of 20 CDDs led from start to finish
  • Prior experience working directly with commercial diligence / strategic due diligence assignments
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with proven research and analytic abilities, and working knowledge of consulting framework
  • Experience in performing various types of analysis, including qualitative and quantitative research, secondary research, web surveys, market sizing, forecasting growth, etc.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple and differing work streams within tight timelines
  • Proven written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to structure insights, convey complex ideas at the right level of detail, and connect findings to the broader strategic context
  • Knowledge of analytical skills needed to execute project work and demonstrated proficiency in advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to liaise closely with clients
  • Proactive and hands-on, with a self-starter mentality and a strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Preferred industry experience in the technology sector (Software, SaaS, IT Service Providers)
  • Must be willing to be based in Boston
  • Bachelors degree required; MBA preferred

Our Engagement Manager will play a significant role in shaping the strategy and growth of the firm. This individual should have experience working at a blue-chip strategy consulting firm with prior experience in commercial diligence / strategic due diligence assignments, experience with quick-time frames (2 to 4-week projects), and growth strategy-oriented projects. This individual will be involved in project execution/management, creative problem solving, engagement scoping / proposal writing, internal and external stakeholder management, as well as contributing to overall firm building initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate impactful insights on projects through rigorous data analysis and research
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Associate team
  • Play a part in recruiting, planning, business development, marketing operations, and more
  • Experience writing business proposals / scopes
  • Managing team through leadership and mentorship

Qualifications:
